High speed linear motors
Advantages of linear motors:
- movement speed is 2-2.5 times higher;
- higher positioning accuracy;
- there are no rubbing elements, as a result, there is no wear, which ensures stable accuracy of metal cutting (the mileage declared by the manufacturer is 100,000 km).
The linear motor is devoid of the disadvantages inherent in mechanical transmissions, such as ball screws or rack and pinion:
- a large number of intermediate elements from the energy source to the working body (laser head);
- large inertia of these elements;
- the presence of gaps in the transmitting devices;
- friction in a plurality of mating parts (dramatically changing when the system moves from a state of rest to a state of motion);
- temperature and elastic deformations of almost all transmission links;
- errors in the step of the running element and the accumulated error in length.
